budhe yāvadiyaṃ nāma jagadbhrāntirna kiṃcana | na cābhūnna ca vāstīyaṃ na ca nāma bhaviṣyati || 2 ||
In the intellect, as long as this world is considered an illusion, it is nothing. It neither existed in the past, nor does it exist now, nor will it exist in the future.
In creation, in the afterworld, in dreams, and in imagination, only consciousness appears as the object of perception; how can there be any other perception of the seen?
nedaṃ dṛśyaṃ na ca draṣṭā na sargo na jagann na cit | na jāgratsvapnasiddhādi kimapīdaṃ tadapyasat || 8 ||
This is not the seen, nor the seer, nor creation, nor the world, nor consciousness; nor is it anything established in the waking or dream states; all this is also unreal.
If it is said, 'How can there be the occurrence of delusion?' O sage, then this too is not appropriate, due to the experience of the absence of delusion.
The illusion of a mirage, water in the desert, a celestial city, and a double moon, as well as the delusion of ignorance, are not perceived through inquiry.
The delusion, like that of a child possessed by a ghost, is not knowledge, even in the waking state. Established without inquiry, it is pacified by inquiry.
That which is determined to be non-existent through careful consideration of evidence, how can it be obtained as real, like the horns of a hare or flowers in the sky?
