Sri Vasishtha said: This reality called Brahman is, in every way and always and everywhere, all power, all form, the lord of all, present everywhere — it is everything itself.
This self, because it has every power, shows the power of consciousness in one place, stillness in another, the power of inert matter in another, delight in another, and in another it shows nothing at all.
In this way, this whole net of distinctions has been made up by wise people in the world, for the sake of everyday dealing — but no difference actually exists in the self.
Just as there are waves, ripples, and water in the ocean, or a bracelet, an armlet, and a bangle made of gold, the sense that the part and the whole are two separate things is a made-up idea, not a real one.
This is Brahman alone, made of every form, spread out everywhere. Those who hold false knowledge imagine a power and a possessor of power, a part and a whole, but this is only imagined, not real in the highest sense.
Whether it be real or unreal, whatever consciousness intends and fixes itself upon, it sees exactly that; all of it is that real Brahman itself, shining as consciousness.
