Vasishtha said: There is no existence of the non-existent, nor is there non-existence of the existent. When this is understood, the perception and non-perception become easy.
The understanding of the meaning of the word 'perception' by the individual is the greatest cause of suffering. Having abandoned the understanding of the meaning of the word 'knowledge', remain as you are.
When the consciousness (cidrūpo) takes the form of the mind (cittasaṃjñāṃ) within the bilva fruit, it does not split even a little, just like the bilva fruit.
na yathā saṃniveśāntaḥ saṃniveśastataḥ pṛthaktathā nabhorthādi pṛthaṅ na parasmānmanāgapi || 10 ||
Just as the inner dwelling is not separate from the dwelling itself, similarly, the sky and other elements are not separate from the supreme self, not even by a thought.
Just as the liquidity of water is inseparable from water itself, similarly, the nature of consciousness (cittva) is inseparable from the conscious entity (citta) due to their identical nature and purpose.
Just as liquidity is in water and light is in fire, similarly, the nature of Brahman (atadbhāvaṃ) is present in both consciousness (cittva) and the conscious entity (citta).
The conscious action (karma) arises from within, without any external cause, like an illusion or a demon. If it arises without a cause, then it does not exist.
The conscious action (karma) appears like the vibration of the wind. If it is without a cause, this self is both external and internal, comprehending the meaning.
The expansion of actions is the body, which is the ego-self with transmigration. It calms down like the wind without vibration through the non-ego state of the non-conscious.
acetanādanantātmā bhūtvā jño'pyupalopamaḥ | saṃsāramūlakaṣaṇaṃ kuru kroḍamukhāgravat || 16 ||
Having become the infinite self, though conscious, like a lifeless object, perform the action of the root cause of the world like the tip of a crocodile's mouth.
ākāśaśūnyahṛdayairjñairyathāsthitamāsyate | kriyate ca yathāprāptaṃ nāpyetaiḥ kriyatepi ca || 20 ||
Those with hearts empty like the sky, the wise, accept things as they are. They act according to what is appropriate, and yet they do not act.
Appearing as if half-asleep and half-awake, they are afflicted by the play of liberation, as if struck by misfortune, and have descended to the earth for desire.
The action that is beneficial to the intellect and senses is fruitful due to the absorption in essence | It should be embraced like a flower, any other movement is fruitless, born of the body
When one is established in the renunciation of actions, one becomes liberated while living due to enlightenment, free from desires | Whether one stays at home or in the forest, one should be peaceful and attain enlightenment
For the wise one with a peaceful mind, even in dreams, the unattainable becomes attainable | The pure, expansive, and delightful forest land is like the heart itself
For the wise one who sees nirvana, the motionless essence is like the sky | The world itself is the great forest, peaceful and devoid of all distinctions
For the ignorant and miserable person, various dualities and difficulties arise. These diverse forms of troubles are like a village circle in the heart.
The earth, with its various activities, transformations, conditions, cities, towns, and mountains, is reflected in the heart like an image in a mirror. It becomes pure in the pure heart and impure in the impure heart.
