श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच । अथ स्थितिप्रकरणादनन्तरमिदं श्रृणु । उपशमप्रकरणं ज्ञातं निर्वाणकारि यत् ॥ १ ॥
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | atha sthitiprakaraṇādanantaramidaṃ śṛṇu | upaśamaprakaraṇaṃ jñātaṃ nirvāṇakāri yat || 1 ||
Sri Vasishtha said, now listen to this, coming right after the chapter on steadiness. It is the chapter on quiet, known to bring liberation.
श्री वशिष्ठ ने कहा, अब स्थिरता के प्रकरण के ठीक बाद यह सुनो। यह शांति का प्रकरण है, जिसे मुक्ति देने वाला माना जाता है।
श्रीवाल्मीकिरुवाच । शरत्तारकिताकाशस्तिमितायां सुसंसदि । कथयत्येवमाह्लादि वसिष्ठे पावनं वचः ॥ २ ॥
śrīvālmīkiruvāca | śarattārakitākāśastimitāyāṃ susaṃsadi | kathayatyevamāhlādi vasisthte pāvanaṃ vacaḥ || 2 ||
Sri Valmiki said, in that fine assembly, still as an autumn sky full of stars, Vasishtha was speaking on, his words delightful and pure.
श्री वाल्मीकि ने कहा, उस सुंदर सभा में, जो तारों से भरे शरद के आकाश जैसी शांत थी, वशिष्ठ यह आनंद देने वाली और पवित्र करने वाली वाणी बोल रहे थे।
श्रवणार्थित्वमौनस्थपार्थिवे संसदन्तरे । निर्वात इव निस्पन्दकमले कमलाकरे ॥ ३ ॥
śravaṇārthitvamounasthapārthive saṃsadantare | nirvāta iva nispandakamale kamalākare || 3 ||
In that assembly the king sat silent, wanting only to listen, and it was as still as a windless pond whose lotuses do not stir.
उस सभा में राजा चुपचाप बैठे थे, बस सुनना चाहते थे, और सभा वैसे ही शांत थी जैसे बिना हवा के तालाब में कमल बिना हिले पड़े रहते हैं।
विलासिनीषु संशान्तमदमोहबलासु च । शममन्तः प्रयान्तीषु चिरप्रव्रजितास्विव ॥ ४ ॥
vilāsinīṣu saṃśāntamadamohabalāsu ca | śamamantaḥ prayāntīṣu cirapravrajitāsviva || 4 ||
There the graceful women too had let go of their passion and pride, sinking into a quiet within, as if they had long ago become wandering renouncers.
वहाँ की सुंदर स्त्रियाँ भी अपने मद और मोह को छोड़कर भीतर ही भीतर शांत हो गई थीं, मानो वे बहुत पहले से घर छोड़कर तप करने वाली संन्यासिनी हों।
कराम्भोरुहहंसेषु लीनेषु श्रवणादिव । मुक्तघुर्घुरवादेषु वायसेषु तराविव ॥ ५ ॥
karāmbhoruhaahaṃseṣu līneṣu śravaṇādiva | muktaghuṛghuravādeṣu vāyaseṣu tarāviva || 5 ||
The swan-shaped ornaments resting on their lotus-like hands had gone still, as if they too were listening, and the hush was like crows in a tree who had stopped their harsh calling.
उनके कमल जैसे हाथों पर टिके हंस के आकार के गहने भी वैसे ही स्थिर हो गए थे, मानो वे भी सुन रहे हों, और वह सन्नाटा ऐसा था जैसे पेड़ पर बैठे कौवे अपनी कर्कश आवाज़ बंद कर दें।
नासाग्रपरिविश्रान्ततर्जन्यङ्गुलिकोटिषु । विचारयत्सु विज्ञानकलां तज्ज्ञेषु राजसु ॥ ६ ॥
nāsāgrapariviśrāntatarjanyaṅgulikōṭiṣu | vicārayatsu vijñānakalāṃ tajjñeṣu rājasu || 6 ||
And the kings there, who understood these matters, sat with the tips of their forefingers resting at the tip of the nose, turning over in their minds a piece of that wisdom.
और वहाँ के राजा, जो इन बातों को समझते थे, अपनी तर्जनी उंगली की नोक नाक की नोक पर टिकाए बैठे थे, और मन ही मन उस ज्ञान के एक अंश पर विचार कर रहे थे।
रामे विकासमायाते प्रभात इव पङ्कजे । परित्यक्ततमः पीठे सूर्योदय इवाम्बरे ॥ ७ ॥
rāme vikāsamāyāte prabhāta iva paṅkaje | parityaktatamaḥ pīṭhe sūryoday iva ambare || 7 ||
Rama's face had brightened like a lotus opening at dawn, and on his seat the darkness had lifted, like sunrise filling the sky.
राम का चेहरा वैसे ही खिल उठा था जैसे भोर में कमल खिलता है, और उनके आसन पर अंधकार वैसे ही मिट गया था जैसे सूर्योदय से आकाश भर जाता है।
आकर्णयति वासिष्ठीर्गिरो दशरथे रसात् । कलापिनीव जीमूतनिर्ह्रादान्मुक्तवर्षणात् ॥ ८ ॥
ākarṇayati vāsiṣṭhīrgiro daśarathe rasāt | kalāpinīva jīmūtanirhrādānmmuktavarṣaṇāt || 8 ||
Dashratha listened to Vasishtha's words with great relish, like a peahen listening to thunder clouds that have begun to pour down rain.
दशरथ वशिष्ठ की वाणी को बड़े चाव से सुन रहे थे, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे मोरनी बरसते हुए गरजते बादलों की गरज सुनकर मगन हो जाती है।
आहृत्य सर्वभोगेभ्यो मनो मर्कटचञ्चलम् । श्रवणं प्रति यत्नेन सारेण मन्त्रिणि स्थिते ॥ ९ ॥
āhṛtya sarvabhogebhyo mano markaṭacañcalam | śravaṇaṃ prati yatnena sāreṇa mantriṇi sthite || 9 ||
The minister sat there too. He had pulled his mind, restless as a monkey, back from every pleasure, and with real effort had fixed it firmly on listening.
मंत्री भी वहाँ बैठे थे। उन्होंने अपने मन को, जो बंदर की तरह चंचल था, सारे सुखों से हटाकर पूरी मेहनत से सुनने में लगा दिया था।
वसिष्ठोक्त्या परिज्ञातस्वात्मनीन्दुकलामले । लक्ष्मणे विलसल्लक्ष्ये शिक्षावलविचक्षणे ॥ १० ॥
vasiṣṭhoktyā parijñātasvātmanīndukalāmale | lakṣmaṇe vilasallakṣye śikṣāvalavicakṣaṇe || 10 ||
Lakshmana too was there. Through Vasishtha's words he had come to know his own self, spotless like the crescent moon, his brightness shone forth clearly, and he was skilled in strict discipline.
लक्ष्मण भी वहाँ थे। वशिष्ठ की वाणी से उन्होंने अपने आत्मा को जान लिया था, जो चाँद की कोर की तरह निर्मल थी, उनकी चमक साफ झलक रही थी, और वे कठोर अनुशासन में निपुण थे।
शत्रुघ्ने शत्रुदलने चेतसा पूर्णतां गते अलमानन्दमायाते राकाचन्द्रोपमे स्थिते ॥ ११ ॥
śatrughne śatrudalane cetasā pūrṇatāṃ gate alamānandamāyāte rākācandropame sthite || 11 ||
And Shatrughna, the destroyer of enemies, was there, his mind grown full, having reached deep bliss, sitting there shining like the full moon.
और शत्रुघ्न भी थे, शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले, जिनका मन पूर्ण हो चुका था, जो गहरे आनंद को पा चुके थे, और पूर्णिमा के चाँद जैसे चमकते हुए बैठे थे।
सुमित्रे मित्रतां याते मानसे दुःखशीलिते विकासिहृदये जाते तत्काल इव पंकजे ॥ १२ ॥
sumitre mitratāṃ yāte mānase duḥkhaśīlite vikāsihṛdaye jāte tatkāla iva paṅkaje || 12 ||
And Sumitra was there too. A mind that used to bring him sorrow had now become his true friend, and his heart had opened like a lotus at that very hour.
और सुमित्र भी वहाँ थे। जो मन कभी उन्हें दुख देता था, वह अब उनका सच्चा मित्र बन गया था, और उनका हृदय ठीक उसी क्षण कमल की तरह खिल उठा था।
तत्रस्थेषु तथान्येषु तदा मुनिषु राजसु सुधौतचित्तरत्नेषु प्रोल्लसत्स्विव चेतसा ॥ १३ ॥
tatrasthēṣu tathānyēṣu tadā muniṣu rājasu sudhautacittaratnēṣu prollasatsviva cetasā || 13 ||
The other sages and kings present there had minds like well-polished jewels, and their hearts seemed to shine with an inner joy.
वहाँ उपस्थित बाकी मुनियों और राजाओं के मन अच्छी तरह मांजे हुए रत्नों के समान थे, और उनके हृदय मानो भीतर के आनंद से चमक रहे थे।
उदभूत्पूरयन्नाशाः कल्पाभ्ररवमांसलः अथ मध्याह्नशंखानामब्धिघोषसमः स्वनः ॥ १४ ॥
udabhūtpūrayannāśāḥ kalpābhra-ravamāṃsalaḥ atha madhyāhnaśaṅkhānāmabdhighoṣasamaḥ svanaḥ || 14 ||
Then a sound arose, filling every direction, as thick as the roar of the clouds at the end of an age. It was the sound of the noon conches, like the roar of the ocean.
तभी एक आवाज़ उठी, जो हर दिशा में भर गई, और वह प्रलय के बादलों की गरज जितनी घनी थी। यह दोपहर के शंखों की आवाज़ थी, ठीक समुद्र की गरज जैसी।
महता तेन शब्देन तिरोधानं मुनेर्गिरः ययर्जलदनादेन कोकिलध्वनयो यथा ॥ १५ ॥
mahatā tena śabdena tirodhānaṃ munergiraḥ yayarjaladanādena kokiladhvanayo yathā || 15 ||
By that great sound Vasishtha's words went out of hearing and were lost, just as the calls of cuckoos are lost in the roar of a rain cloud.
उस भारी आवाज़ से वशिष्ठ के शब्द सुनाई देने बंद हो गए और खो गए, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे बरसते बादल की गरज में कोयल की बोली खो जाती है।
मुनिरन्तरयांचक्रे स्वां वाचमथ संसदि । जितसारो गुणः केन महता समुदीर्यते ॥ १६ ॥
munirantarayāṃcakre svāṃ vācamatha saṃsadi | jitasāro guṇaḥ kena mahatā samudīryate || 16 ||
The sage then stopped speaking there in the assembly, thinking, what great noise is this, that has overpowered my words and beaten down their worth.
तब मुनि ने सभा में अपनी वाणी वहीं रोक दी, यह सोचकर कि यह कैसी बड़ी आवाज़ है, जिसने मेरे शब्दों को दबा दिया है और उनका महत्व मिटा दिया है।
मुहूर्तमात्रं विश्रम्य श्रुत्वा मध्याह्ननिःस्वनम् । घने कोलाहले शान्ते रामं मुनिरुवाच ह ॥ १७ ॥
muhūrtamātraṃ viśramya śrutvā madhyāhnaniḥsvanam | ghane kolāhale śānte rāmaṃ muniruvāca ha || 17 ||
He rested for just a moment, listening to that noon sound, and once the loud uproar had quieted down, the sage spoke to Rama.
वे बस एक पल के लिए रुके, उस दोपहर की आवाज़ को सुनते रहे, और जब वह तेज़ शोर शांत हो गया, तब मुनि ने राम से कहा।
रामाद्यतनमेतावदाह्णिकं कथितं मया । प्रातरन्यत्तु वक्ष्यामो वक्तव्यमरिमर्दन ॥ १८ ॥
rāmādyatnametāvadāhṇikaṃ kathitaṃ mayā | prātaranyattu vakṣyāmo vaktavyamarimardana || 18 ||
Rama, this much of today's portion I have told you. Tomorrow morning I will tell the rest that needs to be said, destroyer of enemies.
राम, आज का इतना हिस्सा मैंने तुम्हें बता दिया है। बाकी जो कहना है, वह कल सुबह बताऊँगा, हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले।
इदं नियतितः प्राप्तं कर्तव्यं तद्विजन्मनाम् । मध्याह्नमुपपन्नं यत्कर्तव्यं नावसीदति ॥ १९ ॥
idaṃ niyatitaḥ prāptaṃ kartavyaṃ tadvijanmanām | madhyāhnamupapannaṃ yatkartavyaṃ nāvasīdati || 19 ||
This midday duty comes by fixed rule for brahmins. A duty like this must never be let slip.
यह दोपहर का कर्तव्य ब्राह्मणों के लिए तय नियम से आया है। ऐसे कर्तव्य को कभी टालना नहीं चाहिए।
त्वमप्युत्तिष्ठ सुभग समस्ताचारसत्क्रियाम् । आचराचारचतुरस्नानदानार्चनादिकाम् ॥ २० ॥
tvamapyuttiṣṭha subhaga samastācārasatkriyām | ācarācāracatursnānadānārcanādikām || 20 ||
You too, rise now, fortunate one, and carry out all the proper rites, bathing, giving, worship and the rest, exactly as custom requires.
तुम भी अब उठो, हे भाग्यशाली, और सारे उचित कर्म करो, स्नान, दान, पूजा आदि, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे परंपरा में तय है।
इत्युक्त्वा मुनिरुत्तस्थौ समं दशरथः प्रभुः। ससदाः सेन्दुरादित्य उदयाद्रितटादिव ॥ २१ ॥
ityuktvā muniruttasthau samaṃ daśarathaḥ prabhuḥ| sasadāḥ sendurāditya udayādritaṭādiva || 21 ||
Having said this, the sage rose, and with him rose lord Dasharatha and the whole assembly - like the sun rising together with the moon from the slope of the eastern mountain.
यह कहकर मुनि उठ खड़े हुए, और उनके साथ राजा दशरथ और पूरी सभा भी उठ खड़ी हुई - जैसे सूरज चाँद के साथ उदय पर्वत की ढलान से उगता है।
तयोरुत्तिष्ठतो सर्वा सभोत्थातुमकम्पत। मन्दवातपरामृष्टा नलिनीवालिलोचना ॥ २२ ॥
tayoruttiṣṭhato sarvā sabhotthātumakampata| mandavātaparāmṛṣṭā nalinīvālilocanā || 22 ||
As the two of them stood up, the whole assembly stirred as if to rise too, touched by a soft breeze, its eyes moving like bees over a bed of lotuses.
जब वे दोनों उठे, तो पूरी सभा भी उठने के लिए हिल उठी, हल्की हवा से छू ली गई, उसकी आँखें भौंरों की तरह कमल की क्यारी पर घूम रही थीं।
उत्तस्थौ सावतंसोत्थभृंगमण्डलमण्डिता। करिसेनेव सन्ध्याद्रावालोलकरपुष्करा ॥ २३ ॥
uttasthau sāvataṃsotthabhṛṅgamaṇḍalamaṇḍitā| kariseneva sandhyādrāvālolakarapuṣkarā || 23 ||
It rose up, decked with a swarm of bees that had flown up from the flowers in people's hair - like a herd of fine elephants on a mountain glowing red at dusk, tails swinging, trunks lifted like lotuses.
वह उठ खड़ी हुई, लोगों के बालों के फूलों से उड़े भौंरों के झुंड से सजी हुई - जैसे शाम की लाली से रंगे पहाड़ पर बढ़िया हाथियों का झुंड हो, जिनकी पूँछ हिल रही हो और उठी हुई सूँड़ें कमल जैसी लगें।
परस्परांगसंघट्टचूर्णितांगदमण्डली। रत्नपूर्णारुणाम्भोदसन्ध्यासमयसूचनी ॥ २४ ॥
parasparāṃgasamghaṭṭacūrṇitāṃgadamaṇḍalī| ratnapūrṇāruṇāmbhodasandhyāsamayasūcanī || 24 ||
As their bodies pressed against each other, their armbands rubbed and broke apart - it looked like a red cloud full of jewels, announcing that evening had come.
जब उनके शरीर एक-दूसरे से टकराए, तो उनके बाजूबंद रगड़ खाकर टूटने लगे - यह वैसा ही लगा जैसे रत्नों से भरा लाल बादल शाम आने की खबर दे रहा हो।
पतदुत्तंसविभ्रान्तभृंगोपहितघुंघुमा। मुकुटोद्दामविद्योतशक्रचापीकृताम्वरा ॥ २५ ॥
pataduttaṃsavibhrāntabhṛṅgopahitaghuṃghumā| mukuṭodddāmavidyotaśakracāpīkṛtāmbarā || 25 ||
Flowers fell from their headdresses, and confused bees buzzed around; the flashing light from their crowns turned the sky into a rainbow.
उनके सिर के गहनों से फूल गिर रहे थे, और घबराए हुए भौंरे भिनभिना रहे थे; उनके मुकुटों की चमक ने आकाश को इंद्रधनुष बना दिया।
कान्तालताहस्तदलचारुचामरमंजरी वनलेखेव विक्षुब्धवरवारणमण्डला ॥ २६ ॥
kāntālatāhastadalacārucaamaramañjarī vanalekheva vikṣubdhvaravāraṇamaṇḍalā || 26 ||
The lovely hands of the women, soft like vines, waved fine fans like clusters of flowers - it was like the edge of a forest shaken by a herd of great elephants passing through.
स्त्रियों के सुंदर हाथ, लताओं जैसे कोमल, फूलों के गुच्छों जैसे सुंदर पंखे हिला रहे थे - यह वैसा ही लगा जैसे बड़े हाथियों के झुंड के गुजरने से जंगल का किनारा हिल उठा हो।
कचत्कटकभारक्तीकृतान्योन्यतताम्बरा वातव्याधूतपुष्पेव मन्दारवनमालिका ॥ २७ ॥
kacatkaṭakabhāraktīkṛtānyonyatatāmbarā vātavyādhūtapuṣpeva mandāravanaamālikā || 27 ||
Their gleaming bracelets filled the space around them as they pressed close together - like a garland of coral-tree flowers in a forest, scattered by the wind.
उनके चमकते कंगन आसपास की जगह को भर रहे थे, जब वे एक-दूसरे के करीब आ गए - जैसे जंगल में मंदार पेड़ के फूलों की माला हवा से बिखर गई हो।
कर्पूरकणनीहाररचितामलवारिदा शरहिक्तटमालेव प्रसृताशेषभूमिका ॥ २८ ॥
karpūrakaṇanīhāraracitāmalavāridā śarahiktatamāleva prasṛtāśeṣabhūmikā || 28 ||
A clean cloud made of camphor-dust and mist spread over the whole ground - like a line of frost on a riverbank in the cold season.
कपूर के कणों और कोहरे से बना एक साफ बादल पूरी ज़मीन पर फैल गया - जैसे जाड़े में नदी के किनारे पाले की एक रेखा बिछी हो।
लोलमौलिमणिप्रान्तपाटलाम्बरकोटरा संध्येवाफुल्लनीलाला कार्यसंहारकारिणी ॥ २९ ॥
lolamaulimaṇiprāntapāṭalāmbarakoṭarā saṃdhyevāphullanīlālā kāryasaṃhārakāriṇī || 29 ||
The swaying jewels on their crowns tinted the air pink at the edges - it was like the evening sky freshly streaked with blue, showing that the day's work was ending.
उनके मुकुटों की हिलती मणियों से आसपास की हवा किनारों पर गुलाबी हो उठी - यह वैसी ही लगी जैसे शाम का आकाश नीली धारी से ताज़ा रंगा हो, यह दिखाते हुए कि दिन का काम खत्म हो रहा है।
रत्नांशुसलिलापूरमुखपद्मनिरन्तरा पद्मिनीवालिवलिता नूपुरारवसारसा ॥ ३० ॥
ratnāṃśusalilāpūramukhapadmanirantarā padminīvālivaliatā nūpurāravasārasā || 30 ||
It was full everywhere with faces like lotuses, as if flooded with the light of jewels turned to water, ringed all around by rows of lotus plants, the sound of anklets like the call of cranes.
वह हर तरफ कमल जैसे चेहरों से भरी थी, मानो रत्नों की चमक पानी बनकर बह निकली हो, चारों ओर कमल की कतारों से घिरी हुई, पायलों की आवाज़ सारस पक्षियों की बोली जैसी थी।
संतता सा सभोत्तस्थौ भूभृच्छतसमाकुला । भूतसंततिसंभ्रान्ता सृष्टिर्नवमिवोदिता ॥ ३१ ॥
santatā sā sabhottasthau bhūbhṛcchatasamākulā | bhūtasaṃtatisaṃbhrāntā sṛṣṭirnavamivoditā || 31 ||
The whole assembly rose, crowded with a hundred kings, its mass of people astir - like a new creation just come into being.
पूरी सभा उठ खड़ी हुई, सैकड़ों राजाओं से भरी हुई, लोगों की भीड़ हलचल कर रही थी - जैसे कोई नई सृष्टि अभी-अभी बनी हो।
प्रणम्याथ नृपं भूपा निर्ययुर्नृपमन्दिरात् । शक्रचापीकृता रत्नैरम्बुधेरिववीचयः ॥ ३२ ॥
praṇamyātha nṛpaṃ bhūpā niryayurnṛpamandirāt | śakracāpīkṛtā ratnairambudherivavīcayaḥ || 32 ||
Then the kings bowed to the king and went out from the palace - their jewels making them shine like rainbows, like waves of the sea.
फिर राजाओं ने राजा को प्रणाम किया और महल से बाहर निकल गए - उनके रत्न उन्हें इंद्रधनुष जैसा चमका रहे थे, जैसे समुद्र की लहरें हों।
सुमन्त्रो मन्त्रिणश्चैव वसिष्ठमथ भूमिपम् । प्रणम्य जग्मुः स्नानाय रसविज्ञानकोविदाः ॥ ३३ ॥
sumantro mantriṇaścaiva vasiṣṭhamatha bhūmipam | praṇamya jagmuḥ snānāya rasavijñānakovidāḥ || 33 ||
Sumantra and the other ministers, wise in judging what was right, bowed to Vasishtha and then to the king, and went to bathe.
सुमंत्र और बाकी मंत्री, जो सही बात परखने में समझदार थे, वसिष्ठ को और फिर राजा को प्रणाम करके नहाने चले गए।
वामदेवादयश्चान्ये विश्वामित्रादयस्तथा । वसिष्ठं पुरतः कृत्वा तस्थुरावर्जनोन्मुखाः ॥ ३४ ॥
vāmadevādayaścānye viśvāmitrādayastathā | vasiṣṭhaṃ purataḥ kṛtvā tasthurāvarjanonmukhāḥ || 34 ||
Vamadeva and the others, and Vishvamitra and the others too, put Vasishtha in front and stood there, bowing toward him.
वामदेव और बाकी लोग, और विश्वामित्र और बाकी लोग भी, वसिष्ठ को आगे करके वहीं खड़े रहे और उनकी ओर झुके रहे।
राजा दशरथस्तत्र पूजयित्वा मुनिव्रजम् । तद्विसृष्टो जगामाथ स्वकार्यार्थमरिन्दमः ॥ ३५ ॥
rājā daśarathastatra pūjayitvā munivrajam | tadvisṛṣṭo jagāmātha svakāryārthamarindamaḥ || 35 ||
There King Dasharatha, who conquered his enemies, honoured the group of sages, and once they let him go, he went off to attend to his own work.
वहाँ राजा दशरथ ने, जो अपने शत्रुओं को जीतने वाले थे, मुनियों के समूह का सम्मान किया, और उनसे विदा मिलते ही अपने काम में लग गए।
वनं वनास्पदा जग्मुर्व्योम व्योमनिवासिनःनगरं नागराश्चैव प्रातरागमनाय ते ॥ ३६ ॥
vanaṃ vanāspadā jagmurvyoma vyomanivāsinaḥnagaraṃ nāgarāścaiva prātarāgamanāya te || 36 ||
Those who lived in the forest went back to the forest, those who lived in the sky went back to the sky, and those who lived in the city went back to the city - all of them, to return again in the morning.
जो जंगल में रहते थे वे जंगल लौट गए, जो आकाश में रहते थे वे आकाश लौट गए, और जो नगर में रहते थे वे नगर लौट गए - वे सब सुबह फिर आने के लिए गए।
महीपतिवसिष्ठाभ्यां प्रणयात्प्रार्थितः प्रभुःवसिष्ठसद्मनि निशां विश्वामित्रोऽत्यवाहयत् ॥ ३७ ॥
mahīpativasiṣṭhābhyāṃ praṇayātprārthitaḥ prabhuḥvasiṣṭhasadmani niśāṃ viśvāmitro'tyavāhayat || 37 ||
The king and Vasishtha lovingly asked him to stay, so lord Vishvamitra spent that night at Vasishtha's house.
राजा और वसिष्ठ ने प्रेम से आग्रह करके उन्हें रोक लिया, इसलिए विश्वामित्र ने वह रात वसिष्ठ के घर पर बिताई।
वसिष्ठः सह विप्रेन्द्रैः पार्थिवैर्मुनिभिस्तथाउपास्यमानो रामाद्यैः सर्वैर्दशरथात्मजैः ॥ ३८ ॥
vasiṣṭhaḥ saha viprendraiḥ pārthivairmunibhistathāupāsyamāno rāmādyaiḥ sarvairdaśarathātmajaiḥ || 38 ||
Vasishtha was attended by the foremost brahmins, by kings and sages, and by Rama and all the other sons of Dasharatha.
वसिष्ठ की सेवा श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण, राजा, मुनि और राम सहित दशरथ के बाकी सभी पुत्र कर रहे थे।
जगाम स्वाश्रमं श्रीमान्सर्वलोकनमस्कृतःअनुयातः सुरौघेन ब्रह्मलोकमिवाब्जजः ॥ ३९ ॥
jagāma svāśramaṃ śrīmānsarvalokanamaskṛtaḥanuyātaḥ suraughena brahmalokamivābjajaḥ || 39 ||
Then the glorious one, honoured by the whole world, went to his own hermitage, followed by a crowd of gods - like Brahma, the lotus-born, going to his own heaven.
फिर वह तेजस्वी पुरुष, जिसे पूरी दुनिया सम्मान देती थी, देवताओं की भीड़ के साथ अपने आश्रम को गए - जैसे कमल से जन्मे ब्रह्मा अपने लोक को जाते हैं।
तस्मात्प्रदेशाद्रामादीन्पुनर्दशरथात्मजान्सर्वान्विसर्जयामास पादोपान्ते नतानसौ ॥ ४० ॥
tasmātpradeśādrāmādīnpunardaśarathātmajānsarvānvisarjayāmāsa pādopānte natānasau || 40 ||
From that place, he then sent off Rama and all the other sons of Dasharatha, who had bowed at his feet.
उस जगह से, उन्होंने फिर राम और दशरथ के बाकी सभी पुत्रों को विदा किया, जो उनके पैरों में झुके हुए थे।
नभश्चरान्धरणिचरानधश्चरान्विसृज्य संस्तुतगुणगोचरांश्च तान् । यथाक्रमं स्वगृहमुदारसत्त्ववांश्चकार तां द्विजजनवासरक्रियाम् ॥ ४१ ॥
nabhaścarāndharaṇicarānadhaścarānvisṛjya saṃstutaguṇagocarāṃśca tān | yathākramaṃ svagṛhamudārasattvavāṃścakāra tāṃ dvijajanavāsarakriyām || 41 ||
Having sent away the sky-dwellers, the earth-dwellers, and the underworld-dwellers - beings whose good qualities had been duly praised - each to their own home in turn, the noble-hearted one then carried out the day's duties proper to a brahmin.
आकाश में रहने वालों, धरती पर रहने वालों और धरती के नीचे रहने वालों को - जिनके अच्छे गुणों की भरपूर तारीफ हुई थी - हर एक को क्रम से उसके घर भेजकर, उस उदार मन वाले व्यक्ति ने फिर ब्राह्मण के दिन के कर्तव्य पूरे किए।
