Sri Vasistha said: The separation from the modifications of desire is called Yoga. Listen again for peace, even though it has been said before, clearly.
grāhyagrāhakasaṃbandhaḥ kutaściditi tanna na naḥ | vidyate'sau praśāntānāṃ yeṣāmasti na vedmi tān || 5 ||
The relationship between the perceiver and the perceived does not exist for us from anywhere. It does not exist for the peaceful ones. I do not know those for whom it exists.
The relationship between the perceiver and the perceived, though inherent in itself, is not attainable. How can there be attainment of the non-existent? By what means is the moon attained?
This very existence of the perceiver and others is that which is not established in the self. By the examination of one's own nature, the truth is not known, where do they go?
In liberation, there is no perceived, etc. In the perceived, etc., there is no satisfaction. There is no mutual experience between them, like shadow and sunlight.
The perceived world, which is an illusion, does not bring happiness. The unreal should not be considered real; do not dwell in the state of liberation.
From the existence of that, great suffering arises; from its non-existence, great happiness arises. The non-existence, being appropriate, becomes firm through contemplation.
In the emptiness of the sky, O gentle one, in the creation and so forth of the conscious self, from the state of cause and effect, everything is indeed Brahman.
nāsti cinmātratānyatvamata icchodayaḥ kutaḥ mṛddehayodhasenāyāṃ na mṛnmātretaradyathā || 20 ||
There is no difference in pure consciousness, then where does the desire arise? In the army of earthen bodies, there is no difference like in earthen pots.
na sajjagadahaṃtādau dṛśye brahmetarattathā | śrīrāma uvāca | evaṃ cet tadudetvicchā mā vodetu munīśvara || 21 ||
Do not be attached to the world, the ego, and other things that are seen as different from Brahman. Shri Rama said: If this desire arises, O great sage, let it not arise.
Just as the night arises from the nature of the sun and then subsides, similarly, desire subsides and does not arise when knowledge is attained.
The one who knows the prohibitions and injunctions is not affected by them| For the one whose desires are completely pacified, who can say what to whom and for what purpose?
na duḥkhamasti na sukhaṃ śāntaṃ śivamajaṃ jagat | iti yō'ntaḥ śilēvāstē taṃ prabuddhaṃ vidurbudhāḥ || 39 ||
There is neither sorrow nor happiness, the world is peaceful, auspicious, and unborn. One who dwells in this understanding is considered awakened by the wise.
tatsthitaṃ vyomani vyoma śānte śāntaṃ śive śivam | śūnye śūnyaṃ sati ca sadyadbrahmaṇi jagatsthitam || 41 ||
That which is situated in the sky is the sky, in the peaceful is the peaceful, in the auspicious is the auspicious, in the void is the void, in the truth is the truth, in the immediate Brahman is the world situated.
In the space of non-perception and perception, that which is established as non-world, in the gentle, equal, peaceful, auspicious, the delusion of 'I' perishes.
This is neither real nor unreal, neither existent nor non-existent, beyond the senses, indescribable, and the world appears as if in a state of confusion.
The cognition 'I am the world' is established in the sky like the sky itself. Just as there is no cause for the vibration of the air in the self of consciousness, there is no cause here.
The tendency of consciousness towards objects is the mind, and that is transmigration. That desire is liberation, and knowing this logic, attain peace.
Just as the sky is unreal due to its non-existence but real due to experience, similarly, the blueness in the Lord is neither non-existent nor real.
Just as there is no difference between the emptiness of space and its vibration, similarly, there is no difference between creation and Brahman, which are of the same form.
In the mere appearance of the non-existent earth and other elements, what is the point of creation, abandonment, and acquisition in the realm of consciousness?
buddhyādeḥ kāraṇatvaṃ ca dvaitaikyāsaṃbhavānna sat | anenedaṃ kriyata ityasyārthaṃ yāti saṃbhavāt || 66 ||
The causality of the intellect and other elements is not real due to the impossibility of duality and unity; the meaning of 'this is done by this' arises from possibility.
In the sky itself is the earth, in the sky are the mountains, in the sky are the solid walls, in the sky are the worlds, the vibration is in the sky, the creation and perception are in consciousness.
vyomabhittau jagaccitraṃ cidraṅgamayamātatamnodeti nāstamāyāti na śāmyati na tāmyati || 69 ||
In the canvas of the sky, the world picture is spread out, made of consciousness waves, it does not rise, does not set, does not calm down, does not become dark.
The indestructible beings are situated in the supreme Shiva, like the sky, they are the play of emptiness, the groups of creation are without obstacles.
Due to the nature of the space of imagination, all experiences are established. The truths spoken by the mind are also true for the subtle imaginings and delusions.
na jñānavāditā satyā na bāhyānarthavāditāyathāvedanametāni vedanāni phalanti vaḥ || 82 ||
The truths spoken by knowledge are not real, nor are the meanings spoken by external objects. These experiences bear fruit according to their perception.
The consciousness that is within is the essence of the universe. The distinction between the two is as illusory as the difference between water and its fluidity.
kālo jaganti bhuvanānyahamakṣavargastvaṃ tāni tatra ca tatheti ca sarvamekam | cidvyoma śāntamajamavyayamīśvarātma rāgādayaḥ khalu na kecana saṃbhavanti || 84 ||
Time, the universe, the worlds, I, the senses, you, all these are one. The consciousness is peaceful, unborn, imperishable, and the supreme self. Desires and other emotions do not arise.
